We arrived safely in Beijing! Shane was a real trooper and slept most of the trip. During the 5 hour lay over in Dullus, he made friends with everyone he met and a pilot even took his pin off of his jacket and gave it to him. He really traveled far better than we could have hoped for. I slept maybe 40 minutes total. I just am not a good sleeper on planes!
Well, we arrived at New Day around 5:00 p.m. and they had us go into the playroom where the children were. The minute she saw us she frowned up and started to cry when I approached her. Karen assures me that this is the normal reaction as they build up to the "big day" and then the children get really nervous when mom and baba (the name they refer to for "dad") shows up. I must admit that I was disappointed. I just knew I would win her over like I always do with children. I didn't win her over but Olivia, Leah, Sophie and others climbed up in my arms willingly and played. Mandy was holding a child as was Mr. Li, our coordinator. The children are very affectionate and love the attention. We stayed about an hour and by the time we left, she was extremely hyper and was laughing and playing with Shane and the others.....as long as I didn't try to hold her.
Tomorrow, her nanny will bring her to us at 8:00 a.m. and we will talk with her nanny and spend a "casual" day with her. She looks just like her pictures and she is adorable! I can tell she has lots of personality and is strong willed. I'll try and post again soon but we didn't purchase an adapter even though we have a converter so I am using one of the New Day computers. Please continue to pray for us and for her heart to bond with ours.

Doris,
I had no idea you would get to meet Abigail so soon. Wow! Of course she's beautiful! So happy to hear that Shane traveled so well. Praying for the Lord to continue to work on Abigail's heart, and prepare her to become your daughter. He is Able! Praying that your "casual day" with Abigail goes well, and that jet lag is quickly behind you.
Blessings from Texas ~

P.S. Please tell Mr. Li hello for us (Tina and Bryan), and let him know that Teddi (Xiao Xiao) has adjusted beautifully!
Favor? I have a church friend here in TX who sponsors one of the children at New Day (small world huh?) She also has a daughter from China. Her name is Alycia and she would love to follow your journey, if you don't mind. Here email is alycia.abox@gmail.com
Thanks! And many blesssings on your journey! T~
Wow, so good to see you THERE!!! What a gift - I laughed through my nose when you described Abigail as "hyper" after warming up!! Our Mya's "hyper" is JUST finally starting to wear off, 3 months home!! But God is faithful.
I am lifting Abigail up right now, that her heart would open to the change - goof change, but her sweet heart doesn't know.
Love & Hugs to you all!!
Sara
Oh how wonderful!! I am so glad you are there!! Can you believe it? Abigail WILL adore you, but there is something about a daddy and a daughter. That will be so sweet for you to watch. She has to be so excited that her family has come to get her!
I hope you are getting some great rest.
Blessings! I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU ALL!!!!!
Ashley
