Shane and Abigail finally get to play outside again!

This is what Shane was doing at 7:30 a.m. in the morning when it was 36 degrees.

I figured I had better update the blog now as I am going to be really busy in the coming weeks. It is hard to believe how much can take place in just a few weeks. John's mother received a confirmed diagnosis of lung cancer a week or so ago and is scheduled to have the upper lobe of her right lung removed next Tuesday, March 9th. Lorene survived cancer, against the odds, in 1986. All these years later she is having to battle it again. We know God is in control so we have to trust Him. Lorene's enthusiasm and her desire to live is inspiring. I can truly say that I have never met anyone else that enjoys each and every day that God gives her the way that she does. She is thankful for each and every day that she is given.
I leave for Boise at 7:00 p.m. tonight to bring Luci home for two months. The entire family is delighted to have her return to Virginia and I am very glad that Lorene will have an opportunity to see and play with her before her surgery next week. I am not sure who loves babies more -me or Lorene - it is a close call there. Shane and Abigail are VERY excited that she is coming home with me. Shane was up at 6:10 a.m. this morning and the picture above is him at 7:30 a.m. after having breakfast and getting ready for school. He was outside playing and it was only 36 degrees! Shane's zeal for life is also refreshing. He wakes up with so much energy and with a smile on his face. It is a joy to see.
Shiloh (Susie's second child) had emergency surgery a week ago for a swollen lymph node in her neck that became abscessed. Needless to say it has been a trying few weeks but as the songwriter wrote "it is well with my soul".
Buddy's birthday is today and Cody's is next Wednesday. We will be celebrating Shane's birthday in a few weeks and Abigail's one year "gotcha day" anniversary. What a fast year it has been! Abigail is quite a unique and complex child. We have come such a long way in our relationship. I can see that really loves her family now and is happy to be here.
Gotta run as I have lots to do today! The next post will have pictures of Luci with us!
