"I can do all things through Christ which strenghten me" Philippians 4:13

So much can happen in such a short time. I flew to Boise on Friday, March 5th. My flight left at 7:00 p.m. I arrived in Boise at midnight and my flight home was Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. I was worried about Luci being upset to be snatched up and taken away by a virtual stranger as she had not seen me since January 9th. You just have to love Luci! She did wonderfully. I am so amazed at her adaptability. I spent some time with her when I arrived Friday night as she woke up when we arrived at John and Melissa's apartment. She never cried on the flight home and people commented how well she did. We arrived home around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night and got up and went to church on Sunday morning. We took her to church nursery anticipating that she might cry and I would need to go to her. True to Luci, she did fine and spent the entire time in the nursery.

Lorene's surgery was Tuesday, March 9th. The surgery went well and they removed one lobe of her right lung. However, a few days after the surgery, she caught a severe infection and ended up being hospitalized for over 3 weeks. She had two min-strokes, along with other complications, and there were times that we feared that she would never leave the hospital. Praise the Lord she came through it and is at home recovering nicely.

Meanwhile, Luci has returned to being a "community baby" as Mandy and Susie share babysitting her on the days that I work. Sharon also steps in and keeps her at night sometimes and at other times so I can get things done. She does great and it amazes me how she adapts to different people so easily. Her maternal grandmother picked up her several Saturdays ago and Luci spent the day with her, her Uncle Randy and his girlfriend, DJ. I have to admit I was a little worried that she would be upset but she did great and was returned to me around 9:00 p.m. that evening.

Shane celebrated his 5th birthday on March 21st. We had a trio birthday party on Saturday, March 20th as Cody turned 8 on March 10th and Buddy turned 52 on March 5th. The weather was great and we had the party outdoors. Of course Lorene and Bernard did not attend as she was still in the hospital at the time. We also celebrated Abigail's "one year gotcha" day as we were in China last year for Shane's birthday and Abigail's gotcha day was March 23rd.

March was a very stressful month for our family with Lorene being so sick and my work was very stressful. In addition to these things, I caught a very bad case of the strep throat and before it was done, Shane also had it, and Susie and her kids had it. I called in to work for the 2nd time in 10 years (the first being when my mother died). As always, my family stepped in and Sharon kept the 3 kids overnight for several nights while I recovered. We had Abigail at the doctor twice last week and she had a severe ear infection and is on antibiotics. I ended up also taking Luci to the doctor and she was treated for strep throat even though the rapid test came back negative. We are all well now. Praise the Lord!!! The next post will be about our trip to Virginia Beach.
