June 2005 - December 2005 - We were busy getting our paperwork together for our dossier to be submitted to China. For those of you who have adopted before, you know what this entails. Jeremy is a senior in high school so we are busy with his school activities and ballgames, homestudy visits, fingerprinting for INS, etc. Our dossier is sent to China in October 2005 and the log in date is December 5, 2005. At this point, we are still planning on adopting a healthy baby girl. I am busy collecting clothes, shoes, toys, etc. With 3 nieces that are ages 2 -7, I have plenty.
Early 2006 - John and I decide to consider adopting a special needs child. We notify our social worker of this and the adoption agency. I received a call in February 2006 from Living Hope asking me if we would be willing to adopt a little boy as they have one available. I can't tell you how hard it was to say "no" but I had my heart set on a little girl.
March 2006 - We didn't know it yet but our soon to be little boy was celebrating his 1st birthday. The picture you see is of him at the "March 2006" birthday party that New Day held in honor of the "March birthday children". Wasn't he a cutie pie!
June 2006 - Jeremy graduates from high school. John & Melissa come home to celebrate his high school graduation and visit with family. I am including a picture of graduation date!
July 2006 - Living Hope calls me again and I am at work this time. They 3 little boys on their waiting child list - no little girls available..... After much prayer and discussion, John and I decide to adopt Sun, Ya Wei. We figure that God must want us to have another little boy. We submit of our letter of intent -for those of you who do not know what that is - it is the letter to the Chinese government stating that we want to adopt a specific child and that we will never abandon the child. Me, John, Jeremy, and John's parents fly to Fort Collins, Colorado to visit John and Melissa. This is our first visit to their new home since they moved in October 2005. We have a great visit with John and Melissa. Mandy, our 14 year old niece is kind enough to remove all the girl clothes that I have in the nursery and box them up while we are gone. You just never know what the Lord has in store and we may need those girl clothes some day.......
Soon after submitting our letter of intent I received an e-mail from Karen at the New Day Foster Home. She informed me that she was the director of the home and that Sun, Ya Wei was with them. His American name was Timothy. She provided me their web-site address. John and I quickly started searching for our little boy! The web-site is http://www.newdaycreations.com/foster/. I began communicating with Karen regarding his clothes sizes, eating habits, etc. in preparation for our trip to China. Have to run for now at Nicholas has arrived for the day and Shane will soon be up and ready to go!
