We had several "hurdles" to go through before we actually received Abigail's file. On February 15th, we had to submit a letter to the CCAA (China Center for Adoption Affairs) detailing how we knew her and why we wanted to adopt her. This was not the letter of intent. On February 21st, AAI, our adoption agency called me, and they needed to submit a letter to the CCAA recommending that we be allowed to adopt her. We did not hear from Ky at AAI for a few weeks and on March 5th, she e-mailed me say that they were confident that the file would be sent soon and recommended that we start the home study process. I contacted Jennifer, our social worker who handled our first home study for the adoption of Shane, and arranged for our first home study visit which took place on March 10th. Jennifer moves fast and we love her for it!
On March 11th, I was on my way to Salisbury, MD for a business trip and my cell-phone rang. It was John and he was calling to tell me that Ky had called our home and had e-mailed Abigail's file to us. He was elated. I could hear the excitement in his voice. He called me a second time an hour or so later and was reading me all the information that was in the file. Some of it we knew due to our sponsoring her but some was new to us. I had a laptop with me so I was up at the midnight checking out the file. The pictures that you see are the two pictures that were with the file. Isn't she cute!!!
